AI Agents & Automation

Build AI agents that do more than answer questions.

Most organisations have already tried a chatbot. Far fewer have AI that actually does work — reading the incoming documents, updating the right systems, routing the exceptions and preparing decisions for the people who make them.

That is what AI agents are for. Built well, they work with your business information, interact with your applications and execute multi-step workflows, with human oversight placed exactly where the risk sits.

Built badly, they are an expensive way to produce confident mistakes. The difference is engineering: a clear specification of the task, careful integration, explicit permission boundaries, evaluation against real cases and monitoring once they are live. That is the work we do.

Offerings

How the work breaks down

01

Custom AI agents

  • Agents designed around a specific business role or process
  • Secure tool use across your applications and APIs
  • Grounding in your documents and data
  • Guardrails and permission boundaries

The useful agents are narrow and well-specified. We design each one around a real task, the systems it needs to touch and the decisions it is allowed to make.

02

Intelligent workflow automation

  • Process mapping and automation design
  • Document intake, extraction and routing
  • Exception handling and fallback paths
  • Integration with existing workflow tools

Most automation stalls on the exceptions. We design for the messy cases from the start, so the automated path covers the real process and not just the happy one.

03

Human-in-the-loop operations

  • Approval and review steps where risk warrants it
  • Escalation to the right person with full context
  • Confidence thresholds and safe defaults
  • Clear accountability for every action

Oversight is not a brake on automation; it is what makes automation acceptable in a real organisation. We design where people stay in the loop deliberately.

04

Evaluation & observability

  • Task-specific evaluation suites
  • Monitoring of quality, cost and latency
  • Full audit trails of agent actions
  • Continuous improvement from real usage

An agent you cannot measure is an agent you cannot trust. Every system we ship comes with the instrumentation to show how it is performing.

Our approach

How an engagement runs

  1. 1

    Discover the process

Map the workflow as it actually runs — the systems, the people, the decisions and the exceptions — and agree what success looks like.

  2. 2

    Architect the agent

Define the tools, data, permissions and oversight points, and choose the right models for each step.

  3. 3

    Build and evaluate

Engineer the agent against an evaluation suite built from real cases, so quality is measured rather than assumed.

  4. 4

    Deploy with oversight

Roll out progressively, with human review where it matters and monitoring from day one.

  5. 5

    Operate and improve

Ongoing support, tuning and extension as the agent proves itself and the business finds new uses for it.

A typical engagement

Agent engagements usually begin with a single, well-defined workflow — proven in production before it is extended.

FAQ

Common questions

How is this different from a chatbot?

A chatbot answers questions. The agents we build carry out work — reading documents, updating systems, routing cases, drafting outputs for approval — inside defined limits and with oversight where it matters.

Will agents make decisions without people?

Only where you decide that is appropriate. We design the boundaries explicitly — what an agent may do alone, what needs approval, and when it must escalate — and every action is logged.

Can agents work with our existing systems?

Yes. Integration with existing applications, databases and APIs is the core of the work, including systems that were never designed with AI in mind.

What happens when the agent is wrong or unsure?

Confidence thresholds, fallback paths and escalation are part of the design. When an agent is uncertain, it hands over to a person with the full context rather than guessing.
